A Weekend of Kindness
Birchwood Lions Book Sale
It was lovely to join Birchwood Lions at their weekend book sale on the 5th September 2026 in Birchwood Shopping Mall, meeting local families and introducing them to The E-motions™ Series.
The weekend raised an amazing £415 for Birchwood Lions, helping towards their £500 contribution to the LCIF Nepal & Tibet disaster fund.
I was very grateful to be invited along and for The E-motions™ Series to play a small part in a weekend supporting the fantastic work the Lions do, both locally and further afield.
Tots & Textures - Launch Event
On 6th September 2026, I had a lovely afternoon at Tots & Textures in Runcorn Shopping City, where The E-motions™ Series was invited to be part of Paige Stanley's launch event.
I shared two story sessions with the children and families, starting with Scaredy Bear's Courageous Tale before introducing Angus the Angry Crab, the newest book in the series, released in August.
The children also had the chance to enjoy E-motions activities inspired by the stories, and it was wonderful to see them joining in, exploring the activities and spending time with the characters beyond the books.
The event was also supporting the local community with a food-bank collection, making it especially lovely to be part of a day that brought local families and businesses together while helping others.
World Book Day with Bright Futures – Ash Meadow
For World Book Day, on the 5th March 2026, I had the privilege of spending the day with Bright Futures, visiting of both their campuses in St Helens to share The E-motions™ Series with children across the schools.
It was a busy and incredibly rewarding day, with nine story readings and two Questions with the Author sessions. Around 70% of the children were non-verbal, and every class was different, making each session a special and unique experience.
Natalie Freeney, who organised the visit, had put together a sensory bag for me to take around the classes. I used this alongside Happy Harry, the Whistling Frog, adding sensory elements to the storytelling and giving the children different ways to engage with and experience the story.
At the time, there were three books in The E-motions™ Series, and Bright Futures purchased 42 books — a complete set of three for every class so the stories could continue to be enjoyed after my visit.
The day also led to something I'm now developing for the future. The school asked whether the E-motions stories could be made available in audio format, giving children another way to access and experience them. Those audio versions are now in progress.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Seeing how differently each class engaged with the stories was a valuable experience and one that has helped shape my thinking about how E-motions can become more accessible and engaging for children with different needs.
St Lawrence Primary, Barbados
It was a real pleasure to visit St Lawrence Primary School in Barbados in February 2026 to read 'Happy Harry, the Whistling Frog' to their younger students.
It was during a trip to Barbados in early 2025 that I got the inspiration and ideas for the story, so it was great to see how much the local children enjoyed hearing it.
This is what the Principal had to say about the visit:
"Thank you again for spending time with the youngest members of our school community. Our students were delighted with your story and I am very sure that they can't wait for more stories to come from you".

Cobbs Infant School & Nursery
On Tuesday 20th January 2026, I was delighted to return to The Cobbs Infant School and Nursery to share two of my stories, "Sad Seal Saves the Day" and "Happy Harry, the Whistling Frog", with two Reception classes and two Year 1 classes.
The children were wonderfully engaged throughout the sessions, responding with enthusiasm to the rhythm of the rhymes, the characters, the illustrations, and the interactive sound effects.
What stood out most was seeing the children thoughtfully engage with the emotional moments in the stories, openly sharing their ideas and recognising how characters coped with their feelings.
It was a real joy to witness such meaningful conversations around emotions taking place in the classroom.
Christmas School Fairs
During December 2025, I was delighted to take part in several Christmas fairs at local schools, connecting with children, parents, and staff.
It was wonderful to talk about how my books help young children understand and move through their emotions in a fun and interactive way — giving schools an extra tool to support children’s emotional wellbeing in their PHSE curriculum.
I also brought along free activities for the children to enjoy, which were a big hit, and it was heartwarming to see the joy and curiosity they sparked.
Even more special was seeing how these events supported local schools and charities, bringing communities together and raising much-needed funds. Meeting fellow vendors and sharing in the festive spirit made the whole experience even more memorable.
Holyrood Warrington Nursery
On Wednesday 12th November 2025, I visited the Holyrood Warrington Nursery to read 'Sad Seal Saves the Day'.
The children loved joining in with the story, making animal noises, shouting 'You're our hero', and making the other sound effects.
After the story we did the 'Sad Seal Saves the Day' quiz, and they got most of the answers right! Amazing! We finished the session with my 'Calm' Poem, from the 'E-motions Series - Little Poems for Big Feelings' book, due for release in 2026.
A fabulous morning, enjoyed by all and a huge thank you to the team at Holyrood Warrington for being so invested in helping children so young with their emotional wellbeing.
McIntyre Charity Apple Day 2025
On Saturday 20th September 2025, I was asked to do a storytime in the beautiful apple orchard, in Victoria Park, Warrington, where I got to read my two stories 'Scaredy Bear's Courageous Tale' and 'Sad Seal Saves the Day'.
It was a magical day and perfect for the beginning of Autumn as we gather in the apple harvests.
The children loved reading the stories too.

Cobbs Infant School & Nursery
On Thursday 15th May 2025, I visited The Cobbs Infant School and Nursery to share my story with two wonderful Reception classes.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the story — especially the rhyming words, the lovable bear, the illustrations, and even my sound effects!
They particularly connected with the moment Scaredy Bear "took deep breaths and thought of a happy place when he was scared." It was wonderful to see them recognising and reflecting on ways to manage big feelings.

As Laura Palfreyman (SEND) and Reception teachers Sara Grogan shared:
"Children were introduced to lots of different fears that they could relate to — but most importantly, how to deal with their feelings."
That’s exactly what these stories are all about — helping young children build emotional awareness and discover tools to feel safe and understood.

Grappenhall Heys Primary School
On Monday 16th June 2025, I had the pleasure of reading my story to Year 1, two Reception classes, and the children at the Nursery.
The children were so engaged with the story — hearing words like "Awesome!" and "Amazing!" when I asked for feedback was wonderful to hear.
Even more powerful were the thoughtful responses that revealed how deeply the story resonated: "It helps give your worries away," "It stops you getting scared," and "The book made me feel calm." These comments are a reminder of how important it is to help children understand and navigate their emotions from an early age.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Grappenhall Heys School for making me feel so welcome.
